Hi Tech Toys

July 17, 2008

How much money do I spend on dog toys?  LOTS, a stupid amount on squeaky toys, chewy toys, bouncy toys and what is Lindy’s favorite toy?  A Taco Bell cup!    Yep, Lindy’s favorite thing is “cup head” she grabs the cup and runs around the yard.  Silly thing!

I love Cardigans!

July 14, 2008

We had a visitor arrive yesterday. Young Cardigan named Quinn is hanging out at our house for a week.  It is so nice to be able to introduce a new dog to the pack and they just adapt.  We walked into the yard, PJ said hey dude who are you?  Henry, said “it’s cool, just don’t mess with my stuff”, Lindy said “Hey! Haven’t we met before?  Let’s play”.  Then they all went running out into the yard.

Later in the weekend, I drug our agility tunnel into the play yard.  The cardis hadn’t really seen it and boom they all just ran thru it like they had been doing it every day.  PJ even jumped on top of it and ran like a log roller across it.  I wish I had the camera then.

Then we went to Yappy Hour at Grandma’s house and hung out with Dublin, Dublin is my mom’s 13 year old Cattle Dog cross, the Cardi kids said, “Hey Dub, this is our friend Quinn” and that was that.

Hot Muddy Days

Hot Muddy Days

We have had a ton of rain and everyone is muddy and the yard is under water.  It is just now starting to dry out.  I keep filling the pool for the dogs and they keep filling it with mud but don’t they look like they love it!

Look this water is muddy again

Didn’t take long

Monsoon season has started and it didn’t take long for the grass in the yard to grow tall again.  We haven’t had any rain in El Paso all year until a couple of weeks ago.  Here is the result of rain in the desert.  We had “big rain” again last night so it will be even higher by the weekend.

Where is the Cardi?

What a good boy!

July 4, 2008

I was so proud of the PJ today.  Last week at training he was all over the place with his attention but today his attention was all on me.  I actually got all the rally signs right tonight too.  It was great to have such a good session because I had a crappy and unproductive day.  Yappy hour rules!

Big Bone Lick

July 2, 2008

Another big boneI’ve been asked several time about Big Bone Lick so here is a link to the State Park http://parks.ky.gov/findparks/recparks/bb/

Here is what wikipedia says about Big Bone Lick:

Big Bone Lick State Park is located at Big Bone in Boone County, Kentucky. It is located on Beaver Road and between the communities of Beaverlick and Rabbit Hash. The name of the park comes from the Pleistocene megafauna fossils found there. The mammoths and other creatures are believed to have been drawn to this location by a salt lick. It bills itself as “the birthplace of American paleontology” a term which dates from William Clark’s expedition in 1807.

In 2002, the National Park Service designated Big Bone Lick State Park as an official Lewis and Clark Heritage Trail Site.[2] The Park was also listed in 1972 on the National Register of Historic Places.

The petting zoo

Today’s rally class again had lots of distractions but not rude ones like last week.  Today we had a spectators  gallery of about 6-8 kids.  They were thrilled to hang out with the dogs, fairly respectful and asked a lot of questions.  It was like a petting zoo.  PJ ate it up.  It didn’t help us with training, he really had an attention issue tonight but we got some good work done in small steps.   PJ is a popular student a BMOC.
