Breeding Plans
Don’t you hate when life gets in the way. Leaving Texas and moving to Georgia put a hold on my breeding plans and before I knew it all my girls were 8 years old. It takes time and resources to breed, whelp and raise puppies in the manner I expect. I just didn’t have the time so I never got them bred. As much as I would love a litter I can’t bring puppies into the world without the time to raise them.
It will be at least 2 years before we can even consider a litter and it all depends on how Cali grows up.
I will be happy to assist you in locating a breeder to work with you to find your perfect match.

I would appreciate your suggestions for a breeder in the Southeast. I live in Alabama, but I’m willing to travel to get a good pet.
I always say to start with the parent club breeder referral site. http://www.cardigancorgis.com breeders with litters will list them. There are also breeders who list their litters on the AKC website. DO YOUR RESEARCH on those as they are not all alike. I don’t know anyone in the SE right now who has puppies.

I’m not sure what you are asking about. There are Cardigan Welsh Corgis which is what we have here at Solstice and then there are Pembroke Welsh Corgis. I’m not sure what you mean by a mini corgi.
Both Corgi were bred to herd cattle in Wales and the word Corgi translates to “little dog” in Welsh. The Cardigan is the bigger dog that should be 10.5 to 12.5 inches tall with the boys weighing from 30 to 38 pounds and the girls from 25 to 34 pounds. The Pembroke is slightly smaller with a height of 10 to 12 inches and a boy top weight of 30 pounds and 28 pounds for the girls.
Although they both had the same jobs on the Welsh farms they are two separate breeds and although they have many of the same characteristics they are more different than they are alike. Both breeds are great they are just different from each other.
My suggestion is always to start with the breeder referral lists on cardigancorgi.com or pwcca.com to find a breeder that fits you.
I am starting my hunt for the perfect breeder for my first corgi pup! I am looking for someone within Georgia, but willing to travel to neighboring states within reasonable distance. I am not looking to immediately get a pup, but more so trying to find a breeder I can get to know and get a puppy closer to the end of the year!

I often share regional litter info on my Facebook Page, Solstice Cardigan Welsh Corgis. Have you checked the Cardigan Welsh Corgi club of America’s breeder list? Also there are some good breeders on the AKC Marketplace too. Just make sure they are breeder’s of merit and that they offer health checks and belong to dog clubs. Also there is a great facebook page call Cardigan Welsh Corgi Purebred Information.
I am very interested in learning from you. We just lost our corgi and seeking another one. The breeder we used in Michigan 11 years ago is not breeding anymore. Can you help us possible locate a heed breeder with puppies available in the next couple of months ?
