Who needs a cat?
November 17, 2008
It is that time of year when we get mice in our house. Those of you who know me know I have an unnatural fear of mice. I’m the classic stand of a chair and squeal kind of girl. I hate mice!
We have been infested, they seem to have moved in between the kennel wall and the rock wall. Wicca put a hole in the drywall in the laundry closet trying to hunt them down. Today during dinner the Cardi kids brought me not one but two dead RATS, the are not mice but Rats, Ratzilla lives at my house, YUCK, YUCK, YUCK! The dogs were good enough to give them up but I was freakin out trying to pick them up and not have to look at them.
Did I mention I hate mice and rats?

Gosh. My Sadie is the greatest mouser! The cats don’t even hunt anymore, but Sadie gets the mice..and my Guinea fowl are great at ratting! You are right! who needs cats! 🙂
In addition to the 3 Cardi residents, I also have 4 cats! But they are lazy cats, so I had to put traps down. Well let’s just say that once the trap caught the mouse then the cat was interested in the mouse. Unfortunately, he got the sticky trap attached to his tail and jumped on the counter. I am telling you it was quite a sight–flying cat and swinging mouse. I about had a heart attack in the kitchen!
Too funny, the mental picture is a laugh, what did the Cardis think about all of that!
We’ve caught three or four rats in the garage with a combination of snap traps and battery-powered zap traps. We also caught at least half a dozen mice in glue traps last year, resulting in many trips up the hillside with a glue trap in one hand and a bottle of canola oil in the other so I could release the mice into the tall grass. I’m just a big softie …
