Paw prints on your heart

July 5, 2012

I have loved many dogs with great joy but some of them have left bigger pawprints on my heart.

It has been so hot and dry here that I empty and fill up the doggy pools daily. When I am filling them I let the dogs run in the big yard because they won’t leave the hose alone.  So I  dump the water and start to fill the pools and as the water soaks into the dry ground a set of paw prints emerge.

My first thought…….. Windy was stopping by to say hello, she left me years ago but it makes me happy to think she is never too far away.

And the paw prints……….. I am going to believe what I believe.

I know! I have several pawprints on my heart and there are no words that will EVER make them go away. I don’t want them to leave, when I down and troubled they are my friends. I have been hoping to hear good news abour Harry’s Oz. That loss would be too great to bear

I love this idea. John Katz (Bedlam Farm guy) writes about how he doesn’t believe in the idea of the rainbow bridge or our animals just waiting around for us when they pass; their spirits go off and roam free, doing whatever they loved to do. I like parts of his thoughts. I don’t want my girl to just sit there and wait for me someday. I want her to be out making mischief and sashaying around. But I also like to think that she’d come check in every once in a while. Just to make sure I knew that she hadn’t forgotten, and that she was keeping busy until we could go play together.
