Match Play
Since my plans changed we were able to go to OTDFA’s match today. We had Frost, Bailey, Charlie and Sienna entered.
The Flea didn’t have any competition in breed but she did get a Group 2 in the Toy Puppy Group.
Charlie beat his sisters for the breed and went on the represent the Herding Group in Best Puppy in Match. He didn’t win the big prize, it was a cute Bassett that walked off with the Best in Match Ribbon but he did a really good job. It was a long and low sweep at the match as the Best Adult in Match was a Pem.

A good reason to eat cake!

Today is the babies 6 month birthday, Happy Birthday Bailey, Charile, Zippy and Bonnie!

Bailey!

Charlie!
Yes we made they babies wear stupid party hats.

Bailey didn’t really think her brother needed a hat.
They Flea had her 6 month birthday on the 15th but the birthday hats were to big for her little head!
We all enjoyed the cake, always nice to find a reason to have birthday cake!

Why isn't there more cake on this plate?
A slice of Americana

The Duck Downs
Like many small places around America Deming, NM has an event every year that draws the locals and visitors to their town. In the case of Deming they have Duck Races! A desert town in southern NM host the Great American Duck Race every year http://www.demingduckrace.com/. I’ve lived in the region since 1976 and this is the 1st year I’ve attended. It was goofy and fun. Ginger and I took the little dogs in the RV and went up to Deming. We knew dogs were not allowed at the races so we left the babies in the A/C in the RV while we went to the duck races. We went to the Duck Mart (vendors) ate some yummy fair food, raced a duck and watched the Great American Tortilla Toss. Better than Walmart and McDonalds!

Cheese, NM Green Chile and Tortilla, what could be better!

Tossing Tortillas, an American pass time. One guy threw 183 feet.

The Losing Duck!
Of course I had to race a duck, but unfortunately my duck was more interested in taking a duck bath than winning the race. But hey you are at the duck race, you have to race a duck!
To reward the girls for waiting for us in the RV we took a side trip to Rock Hound State Park http://www.newmexico.org/explore/state_parks/rockhound.php

Bailey’s Business

I found it, it is mine!
Momma says I get to write about our day because I took 3 times as many steps hiking as anyone else. I’m pretty tired, I had a big day. We took a 2 1/2 hour hike this morning with Auntie Phyllis and Ranger. Ranger was a good trail host, he wasn’t rude or snotty, we guess that the Best in Show didn’t go to his head. Any way we went to a place near the Continental divide trail up by Jack’s peak. I don’t know where that is but Momma said I had to put it in here. Anyway once we got out of the truck and got up the trail a little way Momma took our leads off! We have never been off the leads before and boy was it fun. Mom Lindy had the biggest smile on her face and Frost and I ran all over the place chasing Ranger. Daddy Dog mostly hung out with Momma but he would run with us some of the time. It was so much fun.
After we were done we dogs came home and took a nap and then Momma came and got me and we went to a Party! Miss Bonnie had some new land and we got to go to a bonfire, there were going to be lots of dogs there so only Ranger and I got to go, everyone else had to stay home. The people ate and we dogs got cookies and then after dinner Miss Bonnie took us on a tour of her 10 acres. The grass was taller than me but I ran with all the big long legged dogs, Jed, Pete, Ranger, Chaney and Jack, I did really good keeping up.
Here are some pictures of our hike today:

I’m pretty tired, so Bailey is OUT!

The ride home
Wee V aka MxCh. Smokin’ Midsummer’s Dream

Miss Evie! She just needs one single point to finish her AKC Championship. Evie spent her 1st years here at Solstice and then went to live with Miss Donna her breeder in the Austin area, she is a Texas girl.
A Frost Report
I’m mad! Momma calls me fat Frost and says I’m a porky girl, she is hardly feeding me and tonight she filled my bowl with green beans! What is up with that? So I like food and take after my daddy PJ aka Porky Joe.
I’m not fat, I’m fluffy!
Stay cool,
Frost out
Home from Dixon
Another Richmond Dog Fanciers Dog Show in the books. As always the folks from RDF were wonderful! Always a good time. A great group of hardworking people, I’m thankful they include me in their club. The local residence of Dixon, CA are always very gracious.
People are always curious why I’m there in Northern California all the way from Texas. It is a great learning experience for one thing. I get to help put on a very large dog show (almost 2000 dogs), I get to see dogs from another region that I might not see otherwise, I get meet new people and because of my “job” I get to meet judges and talk dogs with them always an education!
Of course this year I got to see a dog I know very well!

BIS Ch. Javahill Backwoods Boy, RN
Bubba Ranger was ending his “summer” camp with his Javahill Team. Ranger was BOB both days and was awarded a Grp 4 on Saturday, it was fun to see him out there in the big ring. One of my favorite guys. Here he is going from BOB to the Hospitality Golf Cart, he is up for anything.
I also got to see PJ’s brother Harvey again which was really nice and watch my friend Janne Radcliffe judge her 1st Cardigan assignment and awarding the finishing points to a very nice dog bred by Jane and Patrick Smith.
All and all a great weekend, but I’m glad to be home, I missed my own dogs. It is getting harder and harder to travel without them.
Happy Birthday Lindy
Today is Lindy’s 4th birthday, can’t believe she is 4 already. She is the queen and she knows it. Here babies aka “the weasels” are 5 months old today too.
I’m missing the gang tonight, I’m on a business trip to Dallas, then I leave for Dixon on Thursday, I really hate traveling with out the kids.
Watermelon Saturday!!
Grandma brought home another watermelon this afternoon so the dogs got to enjoy another melon. Poor spoiled Solstice dogs.

Yumm Yumm!
Sort of looks like a 5 pointed Cardi Star with a little Brussels thrown in for good measure.

Sienna takes advantage of the lack of Cardis

King PJ surveys the Watermelon carnage from one of his many thrones.

Lindy says, I can't believe I ate the whole thing!
The Weasels
The weasels will be 5 months old next week. Bailey is always thrilled when her brother Charlie visits, they remind me of the opossum brothers from the movie Ice Age 2. Always looking for trouble and wrestling with each other.

Clear Skies
Young Bailey has taken over an important job that has been left vacant since the Diva left us in January. Windy had a thing about Planes flying in our air space, she took her job seriously and would bark and chase them out of our yard. It was a funny thing even ending up as a quote in a national dog magazine. The last few days Bailey has been watching the planes that fly over our house. We are on the flight path, not really low but you can hear them and see them. Bailey has started barking and following them across the yard until they are out of our “air space”.
It makes me laugh and cry, I’m glad to know our yard is once again safe from the airplanes.
