Feeling better
Seems like everyone is feeling better around here after the weekend. We had Watermelon Sunday and everyone enjoyed it. Still some coughing, PJ, Lindy and Wicca are still coughing and Wicca didn’t feel good yesterday but today was better. I’m hope we are past the worst of it.
Coughing and snorting
Poor Solstice dogs, looks like we have a case of Kennel cough at our house. Charlie’s mom Cody’s son Ryan got two rescue Sibe, Sibe crosses and somebody had the cough, Charlie must have been the carrier. Charlie sent last some time over here right after the 4th and then hung out with us on Saturday. Yesterday PJ started coughing so I’m expecting the other to start any day now. I had it at home once before years ago when I had a GSP rescue that brought it home from the pound, but there were not as many dogs at my house then only 3, now there are 6 plus the Flea next door. Guess we will wait it out.
A Frost Report
Hey it’s me Frost!
I has been so hot at home that we aren’t doing much of anything. Saturday Mom took us to the Farmer’s Market. We hadn’t been in a couple of weeks and everyone was glad to see us back. That was the extent of our travels this weekend. We did have Watermelon Sunday today! Mom bought us a Watermelon at the market, we love Watermelon Sunday. We also got tomatoes from one of the vendors, special ones just for us dogs. We love to go to the Farmer’s Market.
Today we hung out, got in the pool and our neighbors came over for dinner. I aways go and bark at them thru Grandma’s gate. Larry doesn’t care, he always talks to me and their gang barks back.
We are hoping for a break in the heat so we can go do stuff, maybe then I’ll have more to report.
Trying to stay cool!

More from the Parade
Some people didn’t believe I was at the Parade on the 4th since I only had photos of other people so here is my proof :-).

Catching up with the family
Charlie is spending a couple days here at Solstice while his Momma is away. So I thought it was time to catch up with the rest of the family:

Happy 4th of July
I spent the morning at the 4th of July parade, not as a watcher but as a walker. State Farm had a group in the parade and I volunteered to be a part of it. The dogs weren’t invited but there were plenty of them there, it was fun to see all the people out with their families including their dogs. Ginger and the Flea went to watch and pick us up at the end of the Parade. We had a fun time, maybe next year the dogs will be invited.

How cute is this?

Clare celebrates making it to the end!
We are going to watch baseball, eat hot dogs and watch fireworks to end out Independence day!
Plotting and Planning
Part of the fun of dog breeding is the plotting and planning of each breeding. Sometimes you see dogs in your heads and think if I do this or that I’ll be able to create this picture in my head. I started in German Shorthaired Pointers, a breed I love very much but as a breeder of GSPs I had one litter of 2 pretty girls and I could never see the next step. I spent a lot of time trying to plot my next step and it never happened. When I started in Cardigans and began to look at dogs and pedigrees and I started to see those dogs in my head. It took awhile for me to get started but I think I’m on my way, or at least I have a plan.
The next step in the plan is a little bit unconvential. Lindy will be bred to a lovely young dog named Oscar. Now the unconvential part Oscar is a Fluffy Boy. He is a young dog with lovely structure and a lovely pedigree. I had Lindy DNA tested for the Fluff gene and she came back clear and Oscar’s hip x-rays look good (we have copies). I’m excited about what this breeding could produce, those dogs in my head again.
