Solstice Updates
Since we are talking about “up” dates both Bailey and Charlie have up ears and are out of their “hats”.
It is Official!
PJ is now formally known as Ch Mariel’s Flying Spirit, RN!
PJ really deserves the credit for this title since he got very little in the way of training and because he is a sweet and bidable boy he did what I asked him even if he wasn’t really sure of the reason. Maybe now we will train for something for real.
Frost seems to have both her Daddy’s sunny nature and her Momma’s smarts, she picks things up quickly and she is fun to train. Bailey seems pretty quick on the draw too and Charlie is a smart boy but I’m thinking he has a bit of his mother’s “I’ll do it my way” attitude. He is a sweet boy so I’m sure he will catch on quick and Cody is good about working with him. Ginger aka Mom took Bailey to school last weekend and it was reported back that she did really well at school.
We had “little” visitor yesterday Bekka brought Jena her foster daughter, the puppies had a good time chasing her around the yard. A tired puppy and child is a good puppy/child. We don’t have a lot of kid visitors so it is always fun to see the interaction with a kiddo.
Bailey and Charlie went to the Farmer’s market again on Saturday and I guess it will now have to be a Saturday ritual since one of the vendors made a comment, “oh those are the Cardis they come every week” we have Fans!
Cindy over at Foggybottom reminded me about having a yahoo group set up for her “doggy family” members where they share news and updates about dogs from her kennel or for people with puppies from her stud dogs. I had long ago set up a yahoo group for Solstice but never used it so if you are “related by dog” and want to join here is the addy http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Solsticekennels .
A Frost Report
Hey what about me!
Today is Saturday and I’m supposed to be the Star! But I didn’t get to go to Star school today and Bailey did, not fair!
Momma had to work at her office today, she is going to be there all day so I didn’t get to go to school. Auntie Cody was still going to take Charile so Grandma went along and she came and took Bailey. They said something about the Farmers Market and that means Bailey is going to get cookies from the dog cookie lady. Not Fair!
We did have a busy week, we killed our watermelon on Monday and then on Thursday we went to Show Dog school. Miss Granny Janne came down and put us to work. Aside from Bailey and Charlie there were two big dogs called Collies, Maggie had lots of hair and had the same color as Charlie. Poor Charlie always looks different that us girls, he looks like Mama dog. Gage was tall and had hair kinda like us he was just blue. Momma said our brother Zippy lives with two Collies that look like Maggie, bet they are fun to chase like our Wicca.
We had show dog school in the park by our house and boy was there a lot going on, lots of people wanted to pet us and there were some really weird little people who wanted to pet us but really didn’t know how to do it but it was OK. There was a ice cream truck there but Momma wouldn’g buy us ice cream, Not Fair! There were also lots of people playing with balls, that looked like fun! Momma said Bailey and I did really well but Charlie, he doesn’t like his lead, boys are funny.
Last night we dogs went to Yappy Hour at Grandma’s house and Momma and Grandma started working in the garden, they were digging in the dirt and they didn’t want my help. I like to dig and I bet I’m better than they are at digging. I really couldn’t tell why they were digging but they seemed happy to be doing it but hey, I don’t need a reason to dig either.
Momma says that Uncle Harry might get to see my brother Finn this weekend, maybe we will get pictures. Uncle Harry is at a dog show this weekend and Grandma Polly is going to try and visit. I’m sure Finn isn’t as super as me, I bet I’m smarter too. Of course Finn lives with our Momma dog, Pippin and she is really smart. She and Grandma Polly only need one more leg for their MX. I don’t know what that means, I guess Grandma Polly could use another leg since she only has two but why would Momma dog need another one.
Well I’m going to sit here and pout and wait for Bailey to get home and I’ll eat her head. Momma won’t be home till later so hopefully she will have something fun for us to do, maybe we can dig something up.

Pending arrival
The newest addition to the Solstice gang is schedule to arrive on June 12th. We are picking up Ginger’s Brussels Griffon puppy from her breeder Shirley Polson of Gruffels Brussels. We are pretty sure her name is going to be Gruffels Solstice Paint by Numbers aka Sienna.
Sienna will be Ginger’s dog (my Mom for those who don’t know who Ginger is) and she is going to learn how to groom but I’ll be responsible for taking her in the show ring.
One more puppy to add to our chaos!

We had a leftover watermelon from our Memorial Day BBQ and neither Mom or I are huge watermelon fans so I gave it a big toss out into the yard and this is the results. I was surprised at how much the enjoyed their “kill”. Mom and Cody said they looked like a pride of lions.

Henwy’s new home
After much soul searching I made the decision that Henry was going to retired from the show ring and my breeding program and I would begin to look for a new companion home for him. I wasn’t in any hurry and figured it would be a while before the perfect home came along for him. He is a special boy and such a nice dog and I wanted him to have the very best home. He wasn’t being placed because he was a problem at my house I just wanted him to have a place where he was a priority dog and because he isn’t any trouble I was worried that if he wasn’t actively in the show ring he wouldn’t get as much attention as he deserves. So I placed him on my blog and the CWCCA website as an available adult and sometimes perfect things happen!
Henry has a new home, he will be going to “family” Frost’s litter sister Phoebe needs a brother!

Phoebe wants Henry to come and play
We have to get some ducks in a row but the plan is for Henry to move to Boulder, CO to live with Phoebe, Margaret and Jim and their daughters (when they are home from school) later this month.
I makes me so happy that he will be going to one of our Cardi family and Henry loves to play chase and I really wanted him to have another dog in the family and whats better than that dog being a Cardi who is the sister of one of his favorite playmates.
Frost told Phoebe she needs her own blog so hopefully we will here from both of them a lot!
Busy Day
Frost and Bailey would have liked to write their own blogs but they are too tired so I’ll blog about our busy day.
We started off the day by attending our STAR puppy class. Frost did a really good job, Charlie and Cody started class today too.

After the class we played in the park for a little while, Mom (aka Ginger) came along to hang out with Bailey and check out the class. She is getting her new Brussel’s puppy in a week or so and she will be taking her puppy along to class for socialization.
As we were heading home we saw a sign for a local Farmer’s Market, it was about 11am when we got their so most of the produce was gone but there were lots of stalls with local crafts. We took the dogs and they were the hit of the Market, they met lots of different people and some other dogs and several people even guessed they were Cardigans. The dog cookie lady gave them treats which they thought was pretty cool.

The day was starting to warm up so we headed back across town. The pups were pretty tired.
After a van nap the gang hung out at Grandma’s to have some playtime.
Mom and I went to the movies and shared a popcorn, the popcorn comes with a refill so we filled it up and brought it home to Yappy Hour. The gang love catching corn and playing in the yard, good times were had by all.
A tired puppy is a good puppy!

Cardi weekend update
We Cardis had a great weekend! On Satuday Frost and Bailey went to school and then we all hung out at yappy hour at Grandma’s house. Then on Sunday, we all helped Momma clean the yard and set up for the party she and Grandma were having. We helped hose off the porch and pick up the trash and sweep, even Wicca got to come and help.
Today was the party day and Momma wouldn’t let us come over until the guest came, then we girls got to go over, Momma said they boys couldn’t come because the peed on stuff. Charlie came over and we all played. Frost filched crackers off the craker plate, the nice people gave us treats, Momma gave us some meat off the grill. We played and got petted. Frost’s friend Hatti came to visit and the grumpy Maggie. Maggie had to go in the Xpen cause she was grouchy to everyone. Frost also tried to steal wine.
After some of the people left the boys got to come over and hang out for awhile, Henry was scared of Miss Hatti, he is a goof.
It was a fun time, Bailey is pooped she was so tired she could hardly eat her supper and one of her ears is drooping, Momma said if it isn’t up in the morning after a good night’s sleep she will have to wear tape again.
We like parties and 3 days weekends, lets have some more!

Happy Birthday Wicca!
I can’t believe she is now a veteran!
Solstice Keltic Beltane Fire is now 7 along with her sister Ch Solstice Thirteen Moons (Luna). Wicca is my 1st Bred By, she won the GSPCA national Sweeps in 2003 and retired from the show ring with 10 pts following a shoulder injury. It broke my heart not to have finished her championship.
Wicca spends her days exercising the Cardigans and her nights sleeping on my bed.
