A quick report from ABQ

January 29, 2011

Mandy is on here way to hook up with her with here new family in WI. Yes, I cried.

The poopies were fabulous on the ride up, no crying and no pooping on the four hour trip.  No choices made yet.

7 weeks and counting

January 25, 2011

So what do puppies do at 7 weeks old?  Well the Solstice kids took their 1st car trip on Sunday.  They went to see our Docs at NE Vet for their 1st puppy shot.

Even though the girls would like you to believe they are in a hostage situation they did pretty well in the car.  Which is a good thing since they are taking a car trip at the end of the week.  We will be going to see Harry at Arylan for the puppy evaluation.   They really did a good job, I remember when I brough their Momma Lindy home, she hollered from Albuquerque, NM to Socorro, NM.  I hope they don’t holler for the 4 hour trip.

In addition to moving to their playroom they also are making trips to Grandma’s house and on Sunday I let them out of the pen one at a time for the first time.  They all thought freedom was a pretty good thing.   I only let them out one at a time so that I could keep up!  Now they want OUT all of the time.

Of course they all wanted to pay me back for taking them to the vet by trying to eat my feet.

Nog was eventually successful in removing the sock, which lead to a toe attack!

The older they get the wilder they get so I’m sure we are in for lots of fun in the coming days.  After our trip to NM we will have a better idea on who is going and who is staying.  They girls are all very similar so it will come down to the “fine print”.  I know at least one is going to Houston to live and be a performance Cardi the other is still up in the air.

Climb every Mountain

January 24, 2011

Mandy is becoming a Packers Fan.

As a breeder, it is always a thrill when some one who has one of your puppies wants another one.  That is how it is going for Miss Mandy, she will soon be joining Sharrie, Jake, her brother Zippy, Cardi buddy LB and Collie buddy Scooter and a host of cats and other farm type characters at High Ridge in Wisconsin.

She will going from this Mountain:

Franklin mountains - El Paso, Texas

To this Mountain:

Sharrie, Zippy and LB in their Mountain of Snow

Of course she is the Fluffinator but I think Sharrie has a coat for the little desert girl until she can get a winter coat grown.  She reported on Sunday that it was -20, that is right MINUS Twenty!  A number this desert girl just can’t understand.

I’m very happy to be sending Mandy up Nort, I really love this girl and I’m comfortable that she is going to “family” as her forever home.

Over the River and thru the gate………..

January 21, 2011

To Grandmothers house we went.  The poopies had their 1st trip next door to Grandmas house.  They hung out in the xpen while we watched some TV, the big dogs chewed hoofies and we had some dinner.  They thought it was great fun.  Didn’t seem to worried about the new place.

Visiting with Grandma, Sienna and Mandy

My Mom tried to help me with a photo shoot.  I’m very hopeful when we visit Arylan in two weeks that  Harry will be able to get some good photos but we tried.  I knew that Cookie would give me trouble, she reminds me of a kid in the Pixar movie that sees something new and yells “WICKED” and jumps and down.  Candy and Nog were more cooperative and Fudgie is sort of in the middle.  Unfortunately by the time we got to Candy we had run out of both memory and battery on the camera so there were less to choose from.

Here is the best of the lot:

Puppies in the straw

January 18, 2011

A big move for the babies yesterday.  After the big dogs helped me get the room ready I put the babies in there to play.  Not one of them hesitated at the new place.

Nog you are not a cow, don't eat the straw

They are loving the extra room and having a really good time.

Maybe too good a time……..

Nog! What are you doing?

They played and played.  Bailey and Mandy are really interested in them and hang out at the gate watching puppy TV.  When I got home today there was a pile of big dog toys by the gate so they must be trying to share.

What are they Mom?

Pretty soon they were tired out.

I really intended for the babies to go back in their pen for the night but all 4 of them were cuddled up in the little puppy house snoozing away so they got spend the night.

Cookie and Nog try out the puppy house

There was one GSP that was thrilled that the poopies have moved into the play room.  I don’t think Wicca moved from the bed until I kicked her off this morning.

Team C & C

Congratulations to Team C & C, Charlie and Cody completed their Rally Novice title today in style with a 1st place.

1st place!

To make the day even nicer, the team also got a 1st place in Beginner Novice for their first leg in the new titling class offered in AKC obedience.

I got lots of nice complements from the local obedience folks that I know about what a nice worker Charlie is and what a nice job Cody was doing.  I told them I could only take credit for being smart enough to give Charlie to Cody but all the credit goes to them.

So pending AKC approval Charlie is now Solstice Flying Ace, RN, CGC.

Good job Team Charlie!

Welcome Wagon

January 16, 2011

The poopies are getting big enough now to move to their day time play room.  This is my grooming room during non-puppy times.  I fill it with straw to keep them warm/dry and CLEAN! while I’m gone at work.  They have much more room to play, they get to interact with the big dogs safely and their world just expands.

I got the staw bales yesterday and the big dogs wanted to roll out the welcome wagon and help get the room ready.

King PJ makes sure it is comfy

I took 53 shots and this is what I got……………

January 15, 2011

I sat on the stool in the puppy pen this morning with my camera thinking maybe I could get some photos of the puppies when they weren’t sleeping.  I wasn’t very successful.  Really, the camera is just too slow.  Most of them were blurs, bites, blobs or empty frames.    Sorry to all you Nog fans but he spent most of the photo session attached to my pant leg or one of his sisters so I’ll have to try again later for Nog feature.
