Another day at the Dog Show
The books have closed on another Richmond Dog Fancier show. This is the 3rd year I have traveled to Northern California to participate on the show committee for Wanda Spediacci. This year I filled the role of Assistance Show Chair. This is a large show with 15 rings and 1700 plus dogs. It is a great learning experience for me.
We have 4 indoor rings and 11 outdoor rings, there is also several onsite clinics, ICSB, Cardiac, a mobile Vet Services which did onsite OFA Xray and DNA testing, a BAER Testing clinic, All Breed Temperment testing and a CGC test.
There is also a pretty large gate and lots of general public.
Day in Dixon
I’m in Dixon, CA doing my job as the assistant show chairman for the Richmond Dog Fanciers. We had a good day, things went smooth and I enjoyed myself. Jane Smith took the photos of the Cardigan ring for me while I was doing my glamours job of Asst. Show Chair and picking up poop.
The weather was pretty warm but not horrible. It is always fun to come to other parts of the country to see other dogs and other people.
News from Kennel Arylan
Young Quinn has found his new home and will be living in AZ with a retired couple. It’s a dog’s life. We enjoyed his visit here and I’m sure his new people will be thrilled with him.
There is also a new video of the Cardi babies on Harry’s site www.arylan.com they grow so fast!
I’m at the dog show in Dixon, CA and hopefully I’ll be able to post some ring shots tomorrow.
I miss the kids but Grandma is looking out for them.
Mother’s little helper
I used to have a pet sitting business, I was Mrs. Noah’s Creature Comforts. Working my Corporate America job and running my own business was just too much so I closed the business. I still have a couple of clients mostly who are also my co-workers from my real job.
This weekend I was taking care of Bella (and Blu the cat). Bella is a young Sheltie. It has been so rainy that she hasn’t had much time outside, and I knew she was bored. Today I took my little helper PJ over to play with her and as you can see they had a good time.
Dog Days of August
- PJ, Runner Up Brindle Dog, 2008 Megan
- Pippin, Runner Up Brindle Bitch, 2008 Megan
We are excitedly waiting for a call from Polly in Colorado. The beautiful Pippin is expected in season in August and this will be PJ’s 1st breeding. We are hoping for some lovely puppies. You can learn more about both dogs and the upcoming litter at our website www.solsticekennels.com.
Hurricane Dolly
You wouldn’t think that in far Southwest Texas would have be effected by a Hurricane but we are having a weather event. The weather channel radar shows rotating clouds just like a coastal storm. We have had almost 3 inches of rain over night and more is expected. July is Monsoon season so we have had a lot of rain prior to this so the ground was already wet and the grass was already HIGH! El Paso’s annual rain fall is under 10 inches and we have had over 20% of our annual total in the last 48 hours. I live in the desert because I don’t like rain so I’ll be happy for it to move along. The dogs will be too. Windy aka The DIVA has to be tossed outside, she won’t go out on her own. The Cardigans are so low to the ground that they have to wade to the high ground and they are covered in MUD. Henry likes the mud but Lindy and PJ would just as soon stay out of the high water. Wicca in true bird dog fashion just gallops thru it. Stoney will go out since he lets nothing stop his barking at the world.
Loma “Lake”
Poor Dublin
My Mom’s old Dublin had to have a big ugly mass surgically removed today. She has a huge incision across the top of her back. She feels really bad. We got her to walk out in the yard for a few minutes. The Cardi kids were most upset that Dublin smelled funny and they couldn’t come over to Yappy Hour.
UPDATE – Dublin is feeling much better, she is up and about and seems to be healing. She came out to Yappy hour for awhile and was glad to be there.
Puppy Breath
Back home from Albuquerque. We delivered Quinn to Harry’s and got to visit with the babies. Their eyes are just opening up. I told Harry they were waiting for Auntie Jinnie to show up to open their eyes. Harry has a video of each puppy on his site www.arylan.com. Cutie pies!
The Pat Hasting Seminar was informative, it was worth the trip and Phyllis and I had a good visit.
I was glad to get home to the kids I miss them when I’m gone.
Meet Quinn
Quinn has been visiting with us for a week, he is headed back to Harry’s. Quinn is a cute boy from the Hanna x Oliver litter. Quinn is a beautiful boy who had lots of show dog potential. Unfortunately he has a floppy ear that would not stay up for his owner which halted his potential show career. Quinn will be in Albuquerque, NM and will be looking for a home of his own. You can contact Harry and see more of Quinn at www.arylan.com. Plus check out the new babies there as well. He has been a delightful visitor who easily adapted to our world and he and PJ are now good buddies.

Meet Quinn and see more of him at http://www.arylan.com
We are visiting Kennel Arylan this weekend and I’m looking forward to seeing the new Addy x Jamie babies.
My friend Phyllis and I are going to a Pat Hasting seminar hosted by the NM Sporting Dog Fanciers which is the reason for our trip to Albuquerque.
Hi Tech Toys
How much money do I spend on dog toys? LOTS, a stupid amount on squeaky toys, chewy toys, bouncy toys and what is Lindy’s favorite toy? A Taco Bell cup! Yep, Lindy’s favorite thing is “cup head” she grabs the cup and runs around the yard. Silly thing!
