Goodbye to an old friend
We are having a bad month here at Solstice. We said goodbye to our old friend Dublin today.
Dublin was a cattle dog cross that was a birthday gift to my little brother 14 years ago. I got her from a co-worker who had a litter of cattle dogs but as you can tell it looks like some other type a dog came a courting.
Dublin grew up with a bunch of frat brothers, then lived the single guy life, she loved pizza and french fries and hated the mailman and yorkies. When my brother moved to Dallas for his job 5 or 6 years ago she came to live with my mom and grandmother on a temporary basis. Once Randy was settled, Mema told him he could not have his dog back. She became my grandmother’s dog and then when Mema passed away she transferred her alligence to my Mom. Dublin took each new Cardi visitor in stride, she tolerated the puppies and really liked Henry, she would always play with him.
She was an old dog who learned new tricks, she learned to be an RV dog, and a Dog Show visitor. She went with us whenever my Mom went to the dog shows with the gang.
She had an enlarged heart and on Monday she started having breathing problems, by Tuesday she was weak and today she left us on her own. We are thankful she only had a couple of bad days.
She was a good dog, a funny dog, a smart dog, the yappy hour hostess and a good friend. We will all miss her.
Rest well and easy old girl, you were loved.
Oh no! It is always so horrible when losses come in waves like this. My heart goes out to your family. I’m sorry 😦
Jinnie, my heart is aching for you. Please take comfort in the fact she had a wonderful life and was so loved.
G-dspeed Dublin.
Oh, Jinnie, I’m so sorry to hear the news…it has been a sad streak lately, but now Dublin is in a better place and will be watching over you from above. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with lots of people to love her, just as it should be for any of our 4-legged buddies.
Hugs to all,
Sherilyn
Godspeed Dublin
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It alwasy heartbreaking to say good bye. It always helps me to remember that we will meet again one day at the Rainbow Bridge where we will run and play again. Kim
Goodbye, Dublin.
Sorry to here of your loss. I have lost two of my best freinds “Calla” 15yr old Kuvasz and “Cosmo” a 16yr old mut. And its hard to say goodbye to what I call a CALMO DOG ( a well loved member of the family)
How sad to lose such a wonderful girl. Your tribute to her was lovely though and the good memories will remain forever. Peace to you.
goodbye dublin.
you were loved by some special people.
Thank you to everyone for all your kind words. They really do help and I passed them along to my Mom, who is the one really missing her friend.
It has been a very sad few weeks but we know our friends are at peace and can come to know harm.
Dublin will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Sleep well, Dublin.
It is always hard to lose them – but well worth the pain to have them in our lives. Sleep well Dublin!
aww, sweet Dublin. I’m sorry to hear of another friend passing… arrroooos.
Thanks Jinnie.
